I worked on Scam Spotter, a Google initiative that helps people recognize and avoid online scams. Our first effort focused on gift card scams, communicated through short-form bumper videos. I collaborated with Google’s team to shape the script for both a fifteen-second spot and a six-second cutdown. The brief called for a clear, approachable way to explain a sensitive topic without creating fear, while using high-contrast illustration, selective color, and sound-optional messaging to ensure the videos were bold, easily localizable, and accessible across platforms.
I directed the animation, guided ideation, and helped the client navigate the nuances of motion design, showing how timing, pacing, typography, and visual metaphor could sharpen the message. The final videos balanced authority with approachability and have been viewed over eighty million times, becoming some of Scam Spotter’s most widely seen educational assets.
